Colombo International Airport - Negombo Waikal
You will be welcome at the international airport by our chauffer, in a beautiful seaside town called Negombo in the western coastal region of Sri Lanka. This town has the Dutch flare as it was a colony of the Dutch then and bears the nick name "Little Rome" due to many churches that are reflection and remembrance of Dutch colonization. Now that you have set foot on the most lushes beautiful tropical country in Indian ocean, your romantic adventure is unleashed!
Depending on the time of arrival you can opt for a walk along the Dutch Channel, or a walkabout in this local town that is proud of its fishing heritage and rural lifestyle. This is a great way to start the day. If you prefer to walk along the magnificent beach you are sure to be greated by seagulls and other activities such as if it is in the morning you could feat on the sight of fishing boats reashing the shore with their night sail of fishes caught at the sea. The fishermen will undload their catch of the night to distribute to the loacal vendors & peddeler to be taken into the town to sell. If it is to be in the evening you will be welcomed by a magnificent view of the sunset that never fails to impress any onlookers and beach goers. A quiet walk along the beach while watching the local children play along the beach is a nice way to start your holiday. There are private areas that can be arranged to spent some quiet time to chill and absorb the sunset.
The resorts and hotels along the way do have ample refreshments to keep one going. Later in the evening an encounter with nature. Later at night, you can have the moment to sit, relax and enjoy a scrumptious dinner for two and then retrieve into the quietness of night at your accommodation.
Note:You will be required to stay the first 2 nights in Waikkal at this resort due to the new guidelines for welcoming international tourists and the implementation of a PCR test upon arrival.
Negombo - Dambulla – Habarana
In the morning, we encourage to started early to discover the city of Negombo and the popular local fish market. It is a picturesque view and vibrant environment to be for a walkabout, it takes place every morning on the sandy lagoon of Negombo. At dawn, the boats come ashore with their catch. The activity is in full swing between 6am and 10.30am: sorting the fish, cutting and salting, auctioning and negotiating... A spectacle that is as amazing as it is instructive.
Then, you take the road for the cultural triangle. On the way, discover the lush landscapes of Sri Lanka, made of rice fields, coconut plantations and mountains. On the way, we suggest a visit to the Golden Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This monastery with five sanctuaries is a high place of pilgrimage. It is one of the largest and best preserved cave temple complexes in Sri Lanka. It houses over 150 statues and paintings from the Kandy school. Enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding area. You could end the day with a relaxing massage at the Athreya Ayurveda Ashram! Dinner and overnight stay
Habarana - Polonnaruwa - Minneriya – Habarana
In the morning, we propose a visit to Polonnaruwa, an ancient city which was the royal capital of Sri Lanka during the 11th and 12th centuries, and extends over some 10 km2. You can visit by bike the ruins of palaces, temples, but especially Kalu Gal Vihara, a set of 4 Buddha statues carved in granite. The archaeological museum is also worth a visit. Then, around 3pm, go for a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, famous for majestic Asian elephant population of around 400, and other wildlife such as crocodiles, buffaloes, deer, monitor lizards, cormorants, pelicans and a multitude of birds. The park is also has an interesting landscapes feature with swamps, lakes and mountains on the horizon projecting the natural wilderness and habitat of these creatures. (all Included in the package)
Later on, if you wish, you can climb Pidurangala Hill, right next to the archaeologically important Lion Rock. A walk in the middle of nature, which will allow you to enjoy a magnificent point of view once at the top, notably on the rock of Sigiriya, and the park of Minneriya further on. At the top you will see the ruins of a monastery, Buddha statues, caves etc. A beautiful and uncrowded walk. The ends with a scrumptious dinner, after which you can rest, relax and enjoy the night at the hotel.
Habarana - Sigiriya - Matale – Kandy
To avoid the crowds, we recommend an early morning visit to Sigiriya's Lion Rock, which towers 200 metres above the village. Your guide will show you the different parts of the site, from the gardens to the natural caves, from the frescoes of the Demoiselles to the ruins of Kasyapa's palace at the top. This site owes its reputation to the megalomaniac king who built his residence here in the 10th century. It is the most visited site in Sri Lanka and is listed by UNESCO.
On the way, you will have the opportunity to stop at Matale, to visit a spice garden. This visit is an opportunity to discover the virtues of the country's plants, fruits and spices and learn more about their culinary uses and medicinal properties. You will see, among others, cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg, clove and cocoa trees. Then you continue your journey to Kandy where you will be spending the night after a scrumptious dinner.
Around Kandy
Kandy is termed as the capital of the Hill station located in the center of Sri Lanka surrounded by mountains, lakes, waterfalls and pastures of green carpet of Tea plantation has a historical characterization to it. It is a must see, must visit destination. This former capital of the Sinhalese Kings of then Sri Lanka (Ceylon), has a famous lake and adjacent to it is the famous Buddhist Temple of Lord Buddha’s Lord Buddha’s tooth relic known as ‘Dalada Maligawa (Palace)” that hosts festival every year during the month of July during which a procession of decorated elephants parade alongside the Kandyan dancers and performers on foot. The chief of this herd of elephant will be the bearer of the casket of Lord Buddha’s tooth. You can explore the city center on foot after paying homage to the Dalada Maligawa the Buddhist pilgrimage site, then take a stroll along the Kandy lake (about 4km) in the evening as the temperature cools down while watching the birds of the nearby trees return home. It is a spectacular sight.
At 5pm, come and discover the Sri Lankan culture by attending a performance of traditional Kandyan dances! Dating back to the Kandyan kings, these ritual and religious dances, with their splendid colourful costumes, are still an integral part of the island's cultural richness and are well worth a visit.charm that is quite original on the Asian continent. Many of the buildings bear witness to a typically British architectural style. A masterpiece is the elegant post office. In the city center you will also find Victoria Park. The park was named to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign. You could end the day with a massage session at your hotel's spa and relax. You will be treated to a scrumptious dinner and after which you may chill enjoying the ambience of this cascade of green nature.
Kandy - Nuwara Eliya – Haputale
You are now on your way to Nuwara Eliya (2hours & 30mnts drive). On the way up as you ascend, you will be welcomed by magnificent natural waterfalls such as Ramboda waterfalls, one of the most beautiful in Sri Lanka followed by greener pasture of Tea plantation. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, the town at the highest altitude in Sri Lanka at 1,868 m (6,128 ft) sporting an idealistic European climatic condition is termed as ‘Little England’ due to its British influenced charms. It has the reputation to be the country's vegetable garden. Many of the buildings bear witness to a typically British architectural styles and structure. A masterpiece is the elegant post office in the city center, The Tudor -style two-storey red-brick building with a clock spire, was constructed in 1894 by the British, nearby you will also find Victoria Park that is a home to many flora and fauna. The park was named to mark the 60th anniversary (1897) of Queen Victoria's reign.
Board a train from Nanu Oya to Haputale (seating subject to availability, approx. 2.5 hours by train). This train ride has been termed as the most beautiful scenery train travel in Asia it is also referred to as the ‘Blue train ride’ of Ella. This ride is made up of endless tea plantations feasting on wildlife and miniature waterfall at a distance. Your chauffeur will be waiting for you at the train station, and you will continue your journey to your hotel in Haputale, a small mountain village that is still not very touristy and offers magnificent views of the valley below. You will stay the night to rest and reflect on all the memorable places that you saw, after a scrumptious dinner of cause.
Around Haputale - Tea Plantation Safari
In the morning, you will be all geared up for a couple of hours of trekking through the wilderness, your guide will welcome you and explain the course of your trekking day. Several routes are possible depending on your level and your desire. You could climb Ella Rock, or rather get lost in the countryside of Bandarawela, to cross villages, vegetable gardens and rice fields. Haputale also offers beautiful treks through the tea fields. Depending on the itinerary, you can take a dip in a waterfall, walk through eucalyptus forests and visit a tea factory to learn more about the process of making this national beverage. You will visit Sir Lipton's factory in Haputale and meet the tea pickers. Picnic lunch. Afterwards, if you feel like it, you can take a cooking class with culinary guide Fathima at her home in the mountainous countryside and start preparing lunch with her. Sri Lankan cuisine will no longer hold any secrets for you! (visit by tuk tuk in the plantations included)

Haputale – Unawatuna
In the morning, we recommend climbing Little Adams Peak. It's an easy 2-hour hike along the tea fields. Afterwards, you will go to the famous Nine Arch Bridge where you may see a train passing by. Then you leave the tea country scenery to discover the coastline, considered the most beautiful in the country, you will discover hidden beauties along the way.
Take a break to explore Matara and discover the Dondra Lighthouse, one of the highest in Asia. The lighthouse is still in active use. It helps guide ships along the Indian Ocean. You will also be able to see the fishermen on the Ahangama pole. Enjoy a fresh fish dinner on the beach in the evening! The ends with a scrumptious dinner, after which you can rest, relax and enjoy the night at the hotel.
Relax
A variety of excursions are possible in the area, such as a whale watching cruise or a visit to the beaches of Rekawa, where Sri Lanka's giant tortoises lay their eggs. You could also discover the town of Galle with its fort, built in the 17th century by the Dutch, but also its lighthouse and its ramparts.
You could take a short boat trip through the mangroves of the Madu Ganga River. This is one of the last mangrove forests in Sri Lanka. Madu Ganga has a unique Amazonian forest-like charm, a small wildlife paradise. A stop at Cinnamon Island is almost obligatory, where we are told how cinnamon is made!
Several farms aim to protect the turtles that come to breed on the beaches of Sri Lanka. Possibility to discover their action, to see how they save the eggs intended for the sale on local markets, to place them in an enclosure until their hatching. After a short stay in a tank, the babies are released in the dark. Depending on the time of the visit, there is the possibility to watch the babies being released on the beach. Early in the morning, you fly to Male in the Maldives. You are welcomed by our representative and taken to your hotel by speed boat. Your honeymoon continues on a heavenly atoll.

The Bodu Beru drums announce the arrival of the bride, while the groom waits with the master of ceremonies.
